EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate a variety of body designs and upgrades for a variety of applications. The platform's design philosophy of clean sheets allows the best battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, resulting in better payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated trucks have a single interior wall structure and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer service life. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to range for zero-emission transport of passengers or goods.

GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to easily transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We had the chance to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block the sound of traffic and wind driving along the highway. It glides effortlessly over ruts and humps. The acceleration is surprisingly quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 has a great range and can be fully charged within three hours at home or using any commercial charger. The driver can choose from two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode focuses on torque as well as cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are fun to drive and provide an experience unlike any other for those who've never experienced driving an electric vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric mini bus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, microtransit and transit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. With about his looking to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. They will be eligible for federal transit grants. Check back when we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later this year. We will provide more details about this revolutionary EV.
